We Read Every Negative KRUU Review Online. Here's Our Honest Response

Most companies quietly delete bad reviews, or use a throwaway copy-paste apology and hope you move on. We're going to do the opposite. We've read the Reddit threads. We've read the one-star Trustpilot posts. We've seen the comparison pages competitors have written about us. Instead of looking away, we want to talk about all of it directly, because you deserve real answers before you hand over your credit card for something as important as your wedding, baby shower or your kid's birthday party.

So here's every major complaint we've seen, and exactly what we have to say about each one.

“My digital photos took forever to come through after the event.”

This is the number one complaint, and it’s legitimate. We hear you.

Here’s how the timeline actually works: after your event, you ship the booth back using the pre-paid UPS label in the box. Once it arrives at our facility in Michigan, our team processes the equipment, uploads your gallery, and activates your access. That whole window, from your event date to digital gallery, is usually around 7 to 10 days.

For someone who just had the best night of their wedding, that wait can feel endless. We get it.

Here’s what we’ve done about it: we recently added a QR code instant download feature. Guests can now scan a code right at the booth and save digital copies of their photos to their phone’s gallery on the spot.

The full gallery available in the KRUU App (with HD downloads, filtering, commenting, and guest sharing) still requires the return processing window. But nobody goes home from your event empty-handed anymore.

"The printer had issues and it ruined my experience."

Printers at events are the most common source of hiccups, and honestly, that's true for every photo booth company, not just us. Thermal printers are mechanical, and they can jam, especially if the paper isn't loaded exactly right or the booth got shaken around in transit.

That said, most printer issues are completely preventable. Here's how:

  • Set the booth up the day before your event, not the morning of.
  • Do a full test run. Take three to five test photos and print every single one.
  • Load the paper exactly as shown in the setup videos.
  • If anything looks off before guests arrive, call us. Don't wait.

If you did all of that and still had a printer issue - contact us. We have a replacement process for equipment issues that were outside your control and in most cases, send a replacement printer with next-day air.

"I didn't know I had to submit my design so early."

The design submission deadline is 7 days before your booth ships, usually about 10 days before your event. Since the booth ships 2 to 4 days before your event, the real cutoff is earlier than most people expect.

We've added calendar reminders and email nudges in the customer portal. But the best thing you can do right now, today, if you've already booked: log into your portal, start building your design, and get it submitted well ahead of the deadline. It takes about 15 minutes and it will save you a ton of stress later.

"Repacking the booth was a nightmare."

The fix is simple though: watch the repack video in your portal before your event, not after. And when your booth arrives, take a photo of exactly how everything is packed inside the box. That photo becomes your repacking guide. Two minutes of prep prevents twenty minutes of frustration.

"I wasn't clear on what I was getting with my package."

The Lite, Basic, and Premium packages are slightly different, and we know the differences aren't always obvious at first glance. The most common version of this complaint: someone books the Lite package expecting printed photos, then discovers on the night of their event that Lite is digital-only.

So let's be really clear:

  • Lite: Digital-only. No printer. The photo gallery is accessed through the KRUU App after your booth is returned, or immediately by guests using the QR code feature.
  • Basic: Standard printer included, tons of 4x6 prints, guests take physical photos home.
  • Premium: High-speed professional printer, faster output, extra layout options, insurance, and 100 duplicate reprints included.

We have a whole post dedicated to breaking this down with real event scenarios. Please read it before you book. Link below.

"KRUU isn't BBB accredited. That worries me."

Fair concern. KRUU entered the US market in 2024, and BBB accreditation is a process. We're not accredited, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

What we do have: More than 21,000 Trustpilot reviews that give a much more detailed and honest picture of the customer experience than a BBB badge ever could. We'd encourage you to read them, the good ones and the critical ones, and make your own call.

If you have an experience with us, whether it's great or frustrating, we want to hear about it. Leave a review on Reddit, Google, Facebook or Trustpilot. Or contact us first if something went wrong. We'd rather fix it than lose you.

One last thing.

We're going to keep updating this post as new feedback comes in. If you've had a bad experience with KRUU and your specific issue isn't covered here, email us at support-us@kruu.com and mention this article. We'll respond personally.

We're not a perfect company. But we're an honest one, and that's something we're really proud of.
